Amazon to start streaming its TV programming on Roku 2 in 2017

Amazon announced Wednesday that it is launching streaming its content through Roku 2 devices in 2017.

The online retailer said the Roku 2 will be available for purchase starting in March for $99 and will offer a variety of TV programming for the Internet-connected TV.

Amazon said it will offer programming that is “up to six months in the making.”

Amazon has a growing library of video content on its platform, including the upcoming series “The Jungle Book,” which stars a female protagonist and stars “The Office’s” Kevin Spacey.

Roku 2 offers its own channel lineup of shows and movies.

In addition to the content Amazon offers on Roku, the company has also announced a series of TV series and movies based on popular books and novels, such as “Game of Thrones,” “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”
