DURHAM, N.C. — The NFL announced Monday that it has signed a new TV deal with NBC Sports Network, the league’s primary digital media provider.
The new deal with the cable company will be a first for the league, which has signed deals with multiple media outlets including ESPN, FOX and Fox Sports.
It will be the first time the NFL has partnered with an online provider.NBC Sports Network has been a part of the NFL since 2011, and the league has had agreements with other online media partners including AOL, Yahoo, Netflix, Google, YouTube, Twitch and Hulu.
The announcement comes as the NFL tries to attract new subscribers.
It announced plans in January to invest $500 million in an expanded media and communications department.
